This drawing was made for my brother and a few friends. I didn't really know what to get them, and so why not do a drawing? It follow a joke from before when I made Fox into a super hero based off another friend's joke.
So this is pretty self explinaitory, huh?
This.. may take a bit of explination, heh.
One of my friends thought the cape almost looked like a white mage dress, from Final Fantasy 1. If you squint your eyes, you can see it. So, well.. I ruined the drawing for a joke! But it was just something quick in photoshop that took me maybe 20 minutes. So no big deal.
I posted it up here because I think it's damn funny ^_-
The person off screen is Ali, and he actually said that when I showed him the drawing.
The next 3 are just an inked picture i did, similar to the ones I did for Red. Very dark, kind of a moody tone to them.. and them i played with them. This one is the straight scan
So this one, like the one I did for Red, is just me seeing if i can make it darker but still retain the quality of the image. I think this does a pretty good job. I wanted to get that siluohette feeling, but keep enough of a glow around the eyes and that which would be lit by them.
And this, i just think is awesome. It looks like scratchboard! At first glance, you'd think all i did was invert it. But nope, i did more than that. And it's not inverted because Fox HIMSELF is still relatively black. So what did I do? ^_-
*NEW as of 6/14/05*
Since I started this comic, I've really cut back on doing drawings for things toher than that..
Mostly because it generally takes so much time to do a comic, it doesn't leave me with time for much else.
This is something that has bothered me for awhile, and something I've been intent on changing.
So as i get ahead on my comics, I take time out and try to do non-comic things. everything under this, are those things.
This is Human Fox. It's funny but he was originally human when I started, and for whatever reason.. I haven't drawn much of him, and the efforts I've put into trying, are usually pretty poor. For years I was mocked for making him look like an "angry biker". Well, no more! This is the human Fox I have in mind now. And he looks different a few times, because his hair used to be extremely long, but he cut it shorter later It was only long when he was away from civilization for years. But this is basically a concept sheet for him. Not exactly a model sheet, but close.
it's human Fox again! I decided to draw the time he turned into a dragon for the first time ever. The only liberty I took was.. when he changed, he wasn't really.. all there in the head. So right here he looks "worried" or confused When it happened, he was actually extremely wild and animalistic because of it. But eh, whatever!
I need to scan those and try making a mini animation.. Sometimes I miss my 2d days.
And here is something I never have drawn, but am extremely happy with. Human Fox, as a kid.
Fox's parents were taken away from him at a young age. His dad was killed, and his mom was basically kidnapped. He's never been able to find her since (He's convinced she's dead now), but he went into thieving to survive. he stole, he killed when he had to, but he always hated it. The necklace around his neck is from his mother. Out of all the model sheets I've done, I'm most proud of this one. You feel that character. You see his pain, you see his nervousness, and then of course at the bottom is the classic "Fox smirk". But yeah, I love this one. Talk about random inspiration..
Now we slide into DRF territory.
This is "Fox-Id" as it's called. After he merges with this horrific being inserted inside him (into his mind mostly), He changes appearance. Bulkier, longer and different hair, and the marks on his arms. Those marks signify the merge, and they're not tattoos, but actually almost burned or carved into the skin.
The sequence is Fox losing it, blasting off a massive force of energy, and then "waking up" as it were, and realizing what he did. Maybe another one to take into a short animation..
And this is basically Fox-Id, but as the dragon form, and with Id in control. You'll notice there are no marks on his arms. Thats because, this is what he looks like before the merge, but just with Id in control. It's also important to note that this Fox-Id would be a red dragon, not blue.
The sequence here is again, Fox losing it.. but this time he doesn't snap out of it. Something happens, and he loses control and Id takes over.
By the way, yes, Id refers to the psyche with the same name. it's actually lifted from Xenogears- but thats because Ali at the time, was big into that, and borrowed some ideas. The story however, doesn't follow Xeno at all. So we're not ripping off anything ^_-
Fox Ink style again. Going for more action posing this time. Especially the right picture, which was an effort to play with more extreme lighting. Or should I say light-ning?
